CRITICAL REFLECTION

I made a short film for my Advanced Portfolio, along with a postcard and a social media profile as additional responsibilities. My favourite genres of all time, psychological thriller and psychological horror, were chosen for my short since I have been watching movies about murder and killing. As contrast to gore or violence, psychological horror only emphasises the psychological aspects of fear. Themes of mental disease, psychological trauma, and the human mind are frequently explored in psychological horror. My products are designed with illnesses, young people's drug and alcohol addictions, etc., in mind. Media depictions of youth are more negative and typically depict their involvement in crimes, drug use addictions, sadness, and depression.
One of the most crucial components of my production, which largely comprised branding, was something I lacked and was unable to complete in the end. Making a production logo was the first step in branding as my production has a leaf as its logo. I came up with the straightforward idea for the production logo because it is what most people used to call me as a nickname, so why not just use that? The branding was done with the intention of connecting with the target market.
I've selected a colour scheme for the postcards since a colour system is a collection of hues that are utilised consistently throughout all brand assets to create particular emotions or represent particular values. Typography is a crucial component of branding since it helps the product come across as more dynamic by using fonts, font sizes, and font styles that are utilised consistently throughout all brand assets to create a unified look and feel. The ability of the audience to connect with the product, people, settings, music, etc. and feel as like they are a part of them is crucial for audience engagement, thus I employed multiple shots, angles, and lighting to engage with the audience.
My goal for audience engagement was primarily from a postcard and social media page. I uploaded behind-the-scenes photos, etc. because in my research for all of these short films, postcards and social media pages had these type of things added to engage with the audience. This means that my research was helpful in engagement as well. My short film was 2:20 in length, falling within the 2 to 20 minute range that my research indicated short films should be. While having fewer characters is one of the main short film traditions, I inserted myself as a character. Short movies frequently feature conversation, but mine does not.
I attempted to break the mould of a basic plot by developing a complicated one, but this proved challenging to do in the allotted time. The most of the research I had to conduct was regarding the ancillary duties due to my ignorance of them. Particularly since I have no prior expertise with either the blog or the Instagram profile. I also performed a genre search: Psychological horror frequently uses people who are unstable or untrustworthy mentally, making the viewer wonder whether what they are seeing is actually happening. It also frequently uses twist endings that show that what the audience thought was happening was not really happening.
The concept of paranoia is frequently explored in psychological horror, with protagonists growing more wary of others around them or even of their own ideas. In psychological horror, dreams and hallucinations are frequently employed to blur the distinction between reality and imagination and to make the spectator wonder what is real. Characters in psychological horror are frequently mentally ill or unreliable, which makes the spectator doubt the veracity of what they are seeing.
I attempted to be imaginative Generally, the codes and conventions of psychological horror are centred on generating an environment of psychological fear that relies on subtlety, ambiguity, and a sense of uncertainty. I experimented with several pictures and tried to achieve it in time. About the movie itself, the most of my research was focused on how sadness and depression are portrayed in movies and on screen in general. Particularly for the blog, studying well-known blogs and how they set up their websites was quite helpful.I had almost little experience with blogs, so I spent a lot of time researching which Wix website I should use.
The previous short film was a rough cut because it lacked certain camera movements and shots, and half of it was in portrait, so I created another with the same script but a different style, such as using mid shot, over the camera shot, which we have learned about in As by experimenting with cameras.
While looking for psychological thriller fonts to replicate a post card, one of us struck my attention. I downloaded it and utilised it. Here is my final film for my blog after one trial. The only difficulty I had was that I couldn't create the ideal colour of blood on the knife. In addition, I had to shoot in my friend's home because he played the actor role.
