CODES AND CONVENTIONS OF SHORT FILMS

Length of Short Films
The length of a short film can range from two minutes to thirty. A maximum of five minutes has been suggested for us. The Radio 5 "Well Done U" competition has a maximum time requirement of 2 minutes, thus it continuously changes. After 30 minutes of short film competition, the judges will finish watching.
Narratives & Storylines
The majority of the time, storylines will be built over a little time span and kept basic and easy to follow. The length of the movie, however, is a factor. Typically, there is little conversation and a shortened version of the story. Nonetheless, the storyline will typically be defined by the narrative form, regardless of the narrative's format. For instance, the plot of the short film "Butterfly" needs to revolve on the butterfly effect in order for the story to work. Both short films and traditional movies can raise Enigma codes, but only short movies will have unanswered hermeneutic codes. Proairetic codes are most often found in short action flicks, albeit it depends on the genre. (Suspense is created by action and narrative rather than the audiences wish to have an enigma code explained.
Character(s)
A short film often only introduces one to three main characters because there isn't much room for character development and backstories due to the length and simplicity of the plot. In a short film, a character is usually always presented right away, giving the audience less time to get to know them. This is done as well to maintain audience interest and allow them to follow the plot without being overloaded with fresh details and characters. Short movies typically feature established storylines but are just long enough to establish connections with a small number of characters.
Budget
Costs for short films are frequently quite minimal. The three most crucial factors to keep in mind when creating a budget are filming, post-production, and marketing. Potentially cast, crew, location, and travel costs, but the budget for the short film I'm doing for A2 is quite low. I only intend to spend money on getting to the filming places. A big budget is not necessary to produce a quality movie.
Twists
In order to increase the audience's attractiveness and engagement, the majority of short films have a twist. It can be challenging to keep an audience's interest for such a brief period of time, but by using twists, you can make them aware of you and draw them in. A short film's twist might occur at any point, but it is typically put at the conclusion.
